I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, for me no holiday period is quite complete without some kind of festive drink in my hand. I’m the kind of guy who enjoys a drink. Whether it’s at a friends holiday party, Christmas day itself or a Friday night the winter months are perfect for exploring the numerous kinds of festive cocktails there are available.
I’ve dabbled in a few different winter themed drinks this year; I’m down for mulled anything! However there are a few that have stood out to me and become my new festive favourites. Three of which I’m sharing with you today. They are all super easy to make and perfect if you are hosting a Christmas party or just getting into the festive spirit. Here are three simple Christmas cocktails from the fizzy pomegranate spritzer to the sweet mulled gin and fruity festive sangria.
POMEGRANATE SPRITZER
INGREDIENTS
- 250ml Pomegranate
- Juice Fresh Rosemary
- 1tbsp of honey.
- Pomegranate Seeds.
- Prosecco.
- Gin.
INSTRUCTIONS
Step One:
Pour the pomegranate juice and 1 shot of gin into a cocktail shaker and muddle with a handful of pomegranate seeds into they are completely pulped. Add in 4 rosemary leaves and the honey and muddle with the other ingredients. Shake well.
Step Two:
In 3 champagne flutes or small wine glasses split the mixture evenly and top with your favourite brand of Prosecco.
Step Three:
Garnish with rosemary springs and a handful of pomegranate seeds. Drink up and enjoy.

SPICED MULLED GIN
INGREDIENTS
- 200ml Cloudy Apple Juice.
- 50ml Gin.
- 1tsp Vanilla Extract.
- 1 orange.
- Cinnamon Sticks.
- Whole Cloves.
- Star Anise.
INSTRUCTIONS
Step One:
Pour gin and apple juice into a saucepan along with 1 cinnamon stick, 2 cloves, 2 anise stars and the vanilla essence. Squeeze the juice of half an orange into the pan and add the squeezed orange peel. Gently warm the mixture on a low heat.
Step Two:
Allow the liquid to simmer for 8-10 minutes. Once heated through strain the mixture pour into a glass.

Garnish the cocktail with fresh orange wedges, a cinnamon stick and star anise.
FESTIVE SANGRIA
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1 bottle of red wine.
- 200ml of pomegranate juice.
- 100ml of apple cider.
- 1 tbsp of honey.
- Pomegranate Seeds.
- 1 Apple.
- 1 Orange.

Step One:
In a large pitcher combine the red wine, pomegranate juice, apple cider and honey. Slice the apple and oranges and add to pitcher along with a handful of pomegranate seeds. Stir the mixture to combine.

Refrigerate until cold. I like to leave this overnight so all of the flavours combine. Before serving, stir the mixture and then drink up and enjoy.
