I can’t believe we are almost reaching the end of 2019. I literally have no idea where the time has gone. It’s safe to say that the sun of the summer is now a distant memory and we are now approaching the colder months of the year as winter looms upons us. Like many people this time of year as the frost approaches I am thinking of adding some warmer items to my winter wardrobe.
When on the hunt for new pieces I’m always thinking of three things. The items wearability - can it be worn with multiple items? it's longevity - is it a one off trend that I won’t wear again? and it’s quality and value for money - is it going to last me the year and is the workmanship worth the money?
There are several trends that I have fully embraced this year that I have really enjoyed wearing and know I’ll be styling until spring starts in 2020. Whether it’s checked trousers, something monochromatic or a warm and cozy winter jacket. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favourite pieces that have found themselves in my wardrobe over the last few months. Perfect for anyone looking for something new to add to their closet or even if you’re buying a gift for someone else. Here are 6 pieces you should add to your winter wardrobe.
1.
A LEATHER JACKET
_
I feel like everyone needs a good leather jacket in their wardrobe. No matter what the winter weather brings. It’s perfect for layering, goes with pretty much anything and whether you prefer the double, single or collarless style, all leather has been featured heavily on the male runway this year so is a must to pick up for 2019.
2.
CHECKED TROUSERS
_
Turn your trousers into a statement. I always used to shy away from purchasing overly patterned trousers but now have been struggling to put them down. Checked trousers are what I am into the most at the moment, not just because they’ve been ‘on trend’ but because I think they can smarten up any outfit. You can dress them up with a smart shirt or dress them down with a plan tee and your favourite trainers. Checked trousers are the winner of 2019 for me.
3.
BORG ANYHING.
_
I’m borg mad this year. Not just because it’s super fluffy and keeps you extremely warm and cosy throughout the winter months but because it also looks great too. Borg anything; hoodies, jackets and coats I’m all here for the warmth and layering. So add some borg to your winter wardrobe today.
4.
AN OVERCOAT
_
I think everyone should have a classic overcoat in their wardrobe no matter the season or occasion. Whether, single, double, or triple breasted or more of a casual style a nicely structured overcoat is a must for the winter months.
5.
CHUNKY KNITS
_
This winter the runway has been full of chunky knits. Plain, illustrated or patterned the woollen pieces are perfect for adding a little style and much needed warmth to your winter wardrobe.
